Smart Girl Spring Style Inspired by The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

If you have been anywhere near the romance reading community in the last few years, you already know The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. It is the book that basically launched a thousand STEM girl aesthetics and made everyone want to carry a tote bag into a coffee shop and look effortlessly put together while allegedly studying. It follows Olive Smith, a third-year PhD student at Stanford who accidentally kisses the most intimidating professor on campus in a moment of panic, and then somehow ends up fake dating him. It is funny, swoony, and honestly just really fun to read. If you have not picked it up yet, this is your sign. And if you have already read it, you know exactly the vibe I am going for here.

Smart Girl Spring Style Inspired by The Love Hypothesis

Olive is the kind of character who shows up to a science conference completely exhausted, probably has coffee stains on her notes, and still somehow looks like she has it together. She is not trying to be fashionable exactly; she just has that effortless smart girl energy that translates really well into a spring wardrobe. Think clean basics elevated with a few pieces that feel intentional. Cardigans, tailored trousers, a good tote, and comfortable but cute shoes. Nothing too loud, everything a little thoughtful.

I found the most perfect pieces on Amazon that are giving exactly the right energy for this post. The Stanford crewneck is obviously a little on the nose but in the best way, and paired with the CRZ YOGA high waist leggings and some clean white Adidas sneakers it is genuinely the coziest study day outfit imaginable.

For days when you want to look a little more put together, the Zeagoo button down and Levi's 94 baggy jeans combo is effortless and classic, or swap the jeans for the Trendy Queen two piece set if you want something a little more relaxed.

Throw on the NIUBIA knit blazer, and suddenly you look like you have your whole life together, even if you definitely do not. The hair claw clips are such an easy way to pull the whole look together. Everything is linked below, and I also included The Love Hypothesis itself because, of course, I did!

Book Pairing: The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

The Love Hypothesis was Ali Hazelwood's debut novel and it became an instant New York Times bestseller, which honestly makes complete sense once you read it. Olive is a biology PhD candidate at Stanford whose entire research focus is early detection of pancreatic cancer, something deeply personal to her. She is brilliant and driven and also kind of a mess in the most relatable way possible.

The fake dating setup here is so good because it actually makes sense within the story. Olive needs her best friend to believe she is dating someone so her friend feels free to pursue her ex, and Adam needs Stanford to think he is staying put so his research funding does not get pulled. Two smart people with a shared problem, solving it in the most chaotic way possible. The slow burn is real and the payoff is absolutely worth it.
